A tale of two seasons – the NBA and Game of Thrones

A tale of two seasons – the NBA and Game of Thrones

[Spoilers for the final season of Game of Thrones follow obviously]

Golden State Warriors – Arya Stark

Headed into their respective seasons as the one to fear, they both undoubtedly lived up to expectations. Gone are the days when they might be overlooked due to their smaller size.  They are a force to be reckoned with, especially when the stakes are highest (and seemingly down big) they still manage to come back and win.

Portland Trail Blazers – Jon Snow

After being written off a few seasons ago they were back this season to prove just how good they can be. Unfortunately, they ended up being sent home by higher powers and will need to begin again.

Toronto Raptors – Tyrion Lannister

A strong season overall but put their trust in the wrong people and thus ended up as something of a solo act without any real support.

Milwaukee Bucks – Daenerys Targaryen

A powerful and dominant season with no one seemingly capable of stopping them and a strong individual performance. No one really knows how powerful they are, but always likely to fall at the final hurdle.

Philadelphia 76ers – Bran Stark

It is fair to say a slightly odd season.  Developed in some respects and a good finish overall. They had as much talent as anyone, but there remains concerns they are not really using that talent correctly.

Denver Nuggets – The Hound

Had some memorable moments and ultimately gave it their all in a losing effort.

Houston Rockets – The Night King

A slow start, moving at a glacial pace then picking up form and potentially threatening to dethrone the reigning monarch before falling early and spectacularly.

San Antonio Spurs – Varys

Previously always involved but this time flamed out early.

Detroit Pistons – Lyanna Mormont

Made some noise despite their relatively diminutive stature but unfortunately ultimately got crushed.

Boston Celtics – Euron Greyjoy

A completely unpredictable and bizarre season that will not be remembered fondly.

LA Clippers – Melisandre the Red Priestess

Showed unexpected talents early on before finally succumbing to the Gods.

Orlando Magic – Theon Greyjoy

Threatened an upset early but overcome by a stronger power. Overall a positive season and no one really expected them to be there at the end.

Utah Jazz – Cersei Lannister

Ultimately did not really do what we expected them to do after showing strength during the season. By the end it easy to forget they were there.

OKC Thunder – The Mountain

Despite being potentially formidable and physically talented they did not seem to use themselves in the right way and fell off quickly.

Brooklyn Nets – Missandei of Naarth

A fan favourite but their season ended slightly quicker than expected.

Indiana Pacers – Jamie Lannister

Still looked strong despite injury and ended up getting further than expected carrying that injury but ultimately it all came tumbling down.
